'Estadão' promotes Cannes Winners event on Tuesday
Estadão, official representative of Cannes Lions - International Creativity Festival in Brazil, promotes this Tuesday, 27th, another edition of Cannes Winners, which brings together professionals from the advertising market to discuss the main creative trends of the year. The event will also serve to celebrate the most awarded Brazilian plays at Cannes in 2019.
With 85 Lions, Brazil ranked third in number of awards at the Cannes Lions, behind only the perpetual dominant force of the United States - 313 awards, or more than a third of the total Lions distributed (932) - and not far from UK performance, which accounted for 90 awards. However, Brazil was well ahead of other major European markets, such as France (60 Lions) and Germany (32). Between these two countries was Australia (36 awards).
Akqa was the most awarded Brazilian agency. It has received two Grand Prix awards: one on Media Lions (which judges the best use of different media to broadcast a campaign) and another for Entertainment Lions for Music (which chooses the best work that includes the use of music). The first campaign was for Nike's AirMax model, and involved São Paulo's graffiti culture, while the second turned the release of rapper's second album Baco Exu from Blues into a movement against racism in the country.
This year's Cannes Winners event will feature Akqa executives Diego Machado and Hugo Veiga as keynote speakers on the winning Grand Prix pieces. Rafael Donato, Ogilvy Brasil's creative vice president, who will focus on the provocative (and award-winning) marketing of Burger King. Maria Fernanda Albuquerque, Ambev's marketing director, will give an overview of the festival from the drinks giant's point of view.
